WHY STUDY WITH 3U
3U Partnership can help you find accommodation to suit your needs. We can place you with a host family or in a student residence when you arrive, or point you in the right direction if you need some help looking for a longer term apartment after you’ve settled in Dublin.
Homestay – Staying with a host family is a great introduction to Irish life and culture. You will have an excellent opportunity to develop your language skills in a natural everyday context, and the family will provide you with breakfast and dinner each day. All of the host families we work with are vetted and have a lot of experience hosting international students. The cost of a homestay is €185 per week, all inclusive, with a one time placement fee of €65.
Click here for the brochure for Homestay Accommodation
Student Residence – If you prefer a bit more independence, we can place you in the student residence with international students.
The cost of a single room in the residence is €195 per week, and a shared room is €155 per week, both with the placement fee of €65. No meals are provided in the residence, and places are subject to availability.
Click here for the brochure for St Raphaela’s Residence.
Apartment sharing / rental – If homestay or student residence isn’t for you and you would prefer your own place, we can give you advice if you need it.

Students coming from non-EEA countries may require a visa before entering Ireland.
To see if you require a visa, please look here.
All students from non-EEA countries will need to register with GNIB (Garda National Immigration Bureau).
To do this, you will need a letter of enrolment from 3U Partnership, your passport, proof of sufficient funds (3,000 euro) in an Irish bank, medical insurance for one year and 300 euro to pay for the GNIB card itself. This last amount can only be paid by card, as cash is not accepted.
Information Required for Applying for GNIB Card

Contact details for embassies and consulates located in Dublin can be found here.
All students in Ireland on a student visa are required to have medical insurance for the duration of their stay. You may purchase medical insurance in your home country, or here in Ireland. 3U Partnership uses a company called Medicover.
They offer a good plan for students at a cost of €120 per year. This can be ordered once in Ireland. For more information click here.
Dublin is a relatively easy city to navigate. Many people get around by bus or tram, but a
bicycle is also a great way to travel within Dublin as traffic can be heavy in the morning and evening.
If you choose to travel by bus or tram, you can get a Student Leap Card for discounted fares. We can help you get this when you arrive. See more information here. Dublin Bus has an app you can download to your phone to get the most up-to-date times for your bus. The website also has timetables and other useful information such as route planners, news and real time information.Dublinbus.ie
If you decide to cycle, you can test out the roads on Dublin Bikes before committing to buying one of your own. There are approximately 100 stations across the city centre and
they are very easy to use. If you feel confident enough to go ahead and buy one, try Belfield Bike Shop at UCD for second hand bikes.
Living and studying in another country can be an exciting, but challenging, experience. 3U Partnership aims to provide a supportive and welcoming environment for all students. From questions relating to accommodation or your studies or Irish culture, we are here to help.
Dr Mary Fenton is the Head of 3U Pathway Programmes and has developed the course content to equip our students with the knowledge and skills they will need for their
destination programmes of study. Mary works with the teachers and students to ensure all the students are working to their full potential and getting the most out of their course. Mary provides one-to-one academic mentoring sessions to assist students with their progress.
Sheila McCormack-Cooney is the 3U Pathway Programmes Co-ordinator and is on hand to help with everyday queries involved in student life in Dublin. Sheila’s office has an open door policy for assistance.
